Accessibility Shouldn’t be an Afterthought (AM)
Feedback form is now closed.

When we design a task or assignment we often focus on the task and then make it accessible afterwards. We try to adapt it to make it fit our students who are modified or have an IEP. Through some simple questions and steps, we can think about building our activities around accessibility. As we move onto the next steps in the SAMR model and begin to Modify and Redefine assignments we can rethink our approach to accessibility.

For example:

Am I using video? Is it going to be able to be accessible to everyone?
Am I using visuals? Can everyone see the visuals?
Am I using manipulatives? Does everyone have the motor skills to use them?

In this workshop, we’ll explore and talk about how you can use technology to make learning more accessible, and to choose materials, resources, and create assignments and activities which are inclusive to all.

Participants in this workshop should already be familiar with using digital tools in the classroom, and come with a fully charged device.
